About Florence and Flora
Disaster turned around
Flowers have saved me. They have truely carried me through life in many moments with their hope and beauty. They are one of the most incredible gifts from nature, pure magic. It wasn’t until we lost our home to Cyclone Gabrielle in 2023 that I realised how resilient flowers were and we were as a family. As the roses and dahlia continued to bloom up through the silt, I realised I wasn’t going to give up on my day dream that easily. As my husband and I spent 8 months rebuilding our home my mind wandered to starting some new seeds. I just couldn’t help myself, it really was my lifeline. I spent $400 dollars at Egmont seeds with zero plans on how, but I knew my why.
I believe every person should have fresh flowers in their home, no matter who you are, age, gender, ethnicity. Flowers are universal and individual at the same time. They enter your soul and are impossible to hate. The Flower Subscription was a vision of mine to have flowers delivered routinely to your home. The bulk buy Flora Buckets could be shared with friends, arranged for events, DIY weddings or some blooms for a humble potluck dinner in the summer . I think flowers deserve a conversation in every household. Flowers create connection, bring inspiration and passion.
The time I have spent thinking, pretending, planning this business should be illegal. I never ever wanted to give up growing flowers, but I had to find a way to sell them, Locally and hopefully one day, nation wide. Which meant dreaming big, bigger than my little kitchen table could handle. When I am sowing seeds I get lost in wondering where each flower stem may end up. The thrill never waivers.
I hope to bring you interesting, good quality flowers that you enjoy working with and purchasing. I hope they make you smile. I am a completely self taught grower and florist (please note it is very hard to call myself that) but passion often turns into ambition and I am extremely lucky to say this is my “ive made it” moment.
